Functional and traffic safety in automated and networked vehicles

Research Assistant (m/f) Full-time (PhD possible)

Your work environment:

Research on highly automated driving systems and autonomous vehicles is one of the major topics of the automotive industry worldwide. The CARISSMA Research and Test Center is engaged in intensive research into automated driving. The research project 'SAVe' aims at the evaluation of automated networked driving functions (AVF) by empirical and virtual tests. The necessary test and simulation environments will be set up at THI. The virtual development and implementation process for new AVF functions and components is based on this. Among other things, an intersection in Ingolstadt is to be monitored by sensors in order to achieve improved security of the AVF functions through Car2X communication.

Your assignments:
  • Integration and implementation of autonomous driving functions, also in real vehicles
  • Conceptual design of basic functions and architecture
  • Development of new test methods for autonomous driving
Your qualifications:
  • University degree in electrical engineering, information technology, computer science or a comparable field of study
  • Very good programming skills, e.g. C/C++, Python etc.
  • Knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System) desirable
  • Knowledge of vehicle bus systems desirable
  • The ability to work in a team, commitment, communication skills, independent and result-oriented work as well as the willingness to learn when using new technologies should be a matter of course for you.
